The new arrivals just keep coming! Ian was thrilled to find this 1934 Austin 10/4 ute (there are also a couple of 10/4 sedans already in the museum). The ute doesn't currently have a proper driver's seat, but Ian will soon have that sorted; the car runs beautifully.
In addition to our photos, we are sharing below a wonderful short movie clip filmed by Kiwis Brian and Justine Pepperell going for a run in their lovely 10/4 sedan; we love the banter between them while the camera is running - awesome, guys!
Hot on the heels of the Austin Princess Vanden Plas comes another new baby - this time a beautiful 1956 Ford Zephyr 6 with fabulous two-tone paint. Having completed collection of the car, Ian was delighted to receive the following email message from the previous owner's son in Australia:
I am Marc Fleming and I truly wish to thank you for providing my father's MK1 Zephyr with a home amongst the amazing collection you currently have . As I have never had the opportunity to see the car that my father owned (Bruce Fleming ) the last one I remember as a child was his MK2 ute he used for work. Dad had Zephyrs when he was 17, a MK1 convertible fox tales and all and a MK1 Zephyr 6 .
Once again thank you for keeping the car safe and my father's joy and memory alive . We will sure visit when we return to NZ .
Thank you Marc. Your fathers car is a beautiful example of the Zephyr and a printout of your touching message to Ian is now displayed proudly on the car for our visitors to enjoy.
Our collection means so much more when we know something of the people who owned them and we very much look forward to welcoming you to the museum in the near future.
