Approximately 50 members of the McLaren Club visited Ian Hope's museum with their cars this morning. This was a lunch stop during their round-the nation "Epic Tour of New Zealand 2016".
They were a smashing, friendly bunch and it was wonderful to meet them and see their British cars. TV One were also present in the form of reporter Michael Holland (pictured below with Ian Hope). Smashing guy!
Yesterday, Ian was thrilled to welcome the Bentley and Rolls-Royce Central North Island Group to the museum on a pleasant Spring day. Most people worldwide think of these two premium British marques as the epitome of a vintage racing pedigree allied to peerless style, luxury and comfort - the embodiment of all that is finest in motoring.
The group had a great time browsing around the collection - Fiona and her 'boss' Bentley the bear seemed particularly happy! We were hoping to organise a photo shoot at the museum, but unfortunately there were numerous motoring-related events happening around Hawkes Bay at the same time, and despite best efforts, in the end we just couldn't manage it.
However, the redoubtable Ana Brock-Jest at Hooters Vintage & Classic Vehicle Hire in Napier came to the rescue, kindly allowing us to publish her photos of the group and their cars during their stop-off at the Hooters Showroom shortly before they cruised out to see us. Thanks, Ana - much appreciated!
